To create the change we want, SenseGiving came up with a very specific approach to creating an optimal learning experience. This approach is structured using six guidelines. Only by understanding and accepting these will we be able to discuss and unveil unknown challenges or topics that are often avoided in our day-to-day working environment. Following these guidelines will create a safe space in which to share, comment and learn about ourselves and our teammates.
JUSTIFY THE NEED
Whether your team is newly formed or experienced, it’s important to nurture expectations, define the mission, and understand why we do what we do. Make the short-term investment to achieve long-term goals!
MAKE THE TIME
We are all busy, either running from one meeting to the next, constantly answering emails, or working hard towards tight deadlines. The first action you should take is booking the necessary time to delve deeper into the real challenges you and your team would like to address.
HAVE THE RIGHT PEOPLE IN THE ROOM
Taking part in workshops is always beneficial, but to create a long-lasting experience and ensure that everyone feels a part of this experience means having our direct team members in the room, otherwise the long-term effect of the workshop will be limited.
WELCOME EVERY SPOKEN WORD
There is no right or wrong – there is the reality and the future. We all work hard and want the best for our team and company. Sharing stories, examples and ideas are the foundations of the experience.
CREATE A TRUSTING ENVIORNMENT
Bringing deep discussions to the surface is a challenge. In competitive environments, it can be even harder. However, these discussions are essential to creating something great together, and having a trusting environment is the only way to achieve this.
We should be inspired and motivated. We should enjoy and create a true learning experience. After this experience, you will step outside the door and think to yourself: "Wow, this rocked my world!”
